Actalent Civil Engineer in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

Job Title: Civil EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water resources, stormwater management, and civil site design. This role offers the opportunity to work on local projects that positively impact surrounding communities, with a focus on municipal and public space projects. You will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures and infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs to gather data on soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic information.

  • Prepare or direct the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.

  • Conduct stormwater management, drainage design, hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality modeling, and environmental permitting for various infrastructure projects including roads, railroads, airports, bridges, harbors, channels, dams, irrigation systems, pipelines, and power plants.

  • Perform occasional site visits to inspect construction sites, monitor progress, and ensure conformance to engineering plans, specifications, and safety standards.

  • Utilize hydraulics and hydrology modeling software to analyze and evaluate the impacts of project improvements.

  • Design, analyze, and review grading plans, tributary areas, flow calculations, detention pond sizing, release rates, storm sewer and culvert capacities, and other civil site design elements.

  • Train and develop junior engineers.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Stormwater, Civil 3D, Grading, Civil Engineering, Stormwater Engineering

  • Experience with Hydraulic Modeling

  • Knowledge of Autocad Civil 3D

  • Understanding of Water Resources, Water & Wastewater

  • Experience in Environmental Compliance and Environmental Engineering

  • Proficient in Drainage Design and Water Treatment

  • Strong understanding of Hydraulics and Hydrology

  • BS in Civil Engineering

  • 3-5 years of experience in Water Resource/Drainage Engineering

  • Experience with water main, sanitary, storm sewer design work, grading plans, and roadway design

  • Ability to train and develop junior engineers

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Illinois or Wisconsin

  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred

  • Familiarity with IDNR, US ACOE, FEMA, IDOT, WIS DOT, and local & county permitting requirements for stormwater and drainage projects

  • Proficiency in Civil 3D SSA for storm sewer and hydraulic modeling

  • Experience with subdivision and site drainage design and review

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Some construction experience preferred

Work Environment

This position is 100% in-office, working all five days of the week, reporting to the Division Leader. The role involves direct supervision of 1-3 employees in the Civil/Environmental Division and collaboration with other project managers and senior project managers. Projects will focus on outside-the-fence scope or utility-focused work, including water main, sanitary, storm sewer design work, grading plans, and roadway design. The candidate can expect to manage 2-5 projects simultaneously. There are ample opportunities for growth, with the potential to advance to senior leadership roles.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $53.00/hr.
