Quality Healthcare Staffing Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in LAFAYETTE, Indiana
Patient Care: Evaluate and treat patients with various speech and language disorders, including aphasia, apraxia, dementia/Alzheimer's, head injury, and progressive neurological diseases such as MS and Parkinson's. Therapeutic Interventions: Administer speech therapy for conditions including aphasia, dysphagia, dysarthria, and cognitive impairments, as well as provide trach care and manage speaking valve placements. Assessment & Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans, perform and interpret VFSS (videofluoroscopic swallowing studies), and offer patient and family education. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and best outcomes for patients. Weekend Coverage: Provide one weekend day a month (4 hours or more) if required by higher census, on call as necessary. Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in an acute care setting. Certifications: CCC for ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association), IN state license, and BLS certification required. Specialty Experience: Experience working with adult acute care cases required; experience with pediatric autism is preferred. Licensure: Must have IN state license in hand (pending state licenses will not be accepted). On-call Requirement: Yes, one weekend day a month if needed. Block Schedule: Open to accommodating a block schedule for M-F shifts. Availability: Must be able to work 2/3 major holidays. Unit Information: The Speech Language Pathologist will work across the ICU and progressive care units, dealing with patients suffering from CVA, TBI, dementia/Alzheimer's, respiratory illnesses, MS, Parkinson's, and other neurological conditions. SLPs will manage cases of aphasia, dysphagia, and cognitive disorders, performing interventions like VFSS and providing trach care and education to patients and families.
