Manager Supply Chain

Lafayette, Indiana

Caterpillar is seeking a Manager Supply Chain in Lafayette, In. In this role, you will provide leadership and direction to the Machine Shop scheduling team, support Aftermarket Parts communications & target setting, and provide support to the Genset Packaging outplant processes.

What you will do:

  • Provide leadership to Machine shop scheduling & planning teams.

  • Ensures facility production schedules provide proper product availability to dealers/customers while balancing manufacturing constraint issues.

  • Provide support to our Aftermarket Parts customers. Establish processes and tools to predict timing of parts shipments to Morton & Reman.

  • End to End process maps for Machine Shop value streams.

  • Works with product managers to ensure supply chain strategies are developed and aligned with worldwide sourcing strategies and provides inputs to supplier sourcing and resource management.

  • Works closely with relevant functional areas and assigns resources to supply chain performance improvement projects.

  • Responsible for all personnel issues and performance evaluation of direct reports, including development, capability building and succession planning.

  • Internal customers include department employees, operations and business resource teams in the division as well as the internal Supply Chain team.

  • Work closely with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, & Product Support Life Cycle teams to communicate timelines of new capacity as it becomes available.

  • Work closely with Triple Crown Process team to further improve the Component How Much by When process

  • Support Sr. VP/VP requests on component status / recovery

  • Provide leadership to the packaging outplant capacity growth projects. Develop and improve existing processes to support customer orders built at outplant locations.

Education: Four year College Degree Requirement

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Inventory Management: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage organization's materials, commodities, merchandises, or products.

  • Strategic Thinking: Knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • Comprehensive supply chain experience

  • Knowledge and experience with 6 Sigma

  • Experience with end-to-end value chain analysis

  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Develop and deploy creative / original solutions to complex problems

  • Ability to establish and monitor policies and guidelines

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills

  • Experience in a high-volume production facility

  • Background in scheduling within complexity of attachments and/or internal value streams

  • Experience in purchasing, parts distribution and/or logistics

  • This position is located in Lafayette, IN

  • Travel up to 20% is possible
