A Day in the Life

The Project Manager will act as the accountable project lead internally and externally for various customer-facing projects within HI&M. This role is responsible for driving the application of the Integrated Solution Delivery Model across projects to ensure successful organizational healthcare outcomes for implementations. They will draw upon their breadth of project management, technical, and business knowledge to lead and influence project teams and stakeholders, drive best practices, foster communication internally and externally, to high customer adoption or success of the solution. During these implementations, this role will work closely with internal clinical and technical leads, service engineers, leadership, and external clinical and technical stakeholders to orchestrate activities for overall project success.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY

  • Accountable for the successful implementation of customer outcomes derived through the solution through effective organization and leadership, benefits management, stakeholder management, risk management and issue resolution, planning and control, change management and quality management.

  • Owns and manages the operational aspects of assigned projects and serves as liaison between external clients, project management, internal project team, sales team, clinical product specialists, and line management.

  • Leads and directs one or more project teams engaged in various projects across regions.

  • Main point of contact with external client while managing the scope of the project, scheduling meetings and facilitating all platforms of communication, coordinating all clinical and technical requirements gathering, planning milestones, through training, execution, and go live of a project life cycle.

  • Provides technical and analytical guidance and recommendations to leadership governance bodies.

  • Responsible for ensuring all project related documents are stored and distributed to the appropriate project team members for customer support.

  • Develops detailed project plans and meeting minutes/reporting to monitor and track progress of all facets of the project including technical and clinical activities.

  • Measures project performance using appropriate tools and measurable outcomes.

  • Facilitates all technical and clinical workstreams with internal and external project teams, responsible for ensuring adherence and documentation of all requirement and outcomes.

  • Communicates appropriately to internal and external sponsors appropriately of any major impacts to the project and overall account health to key stakeholders.

  • Facilitates and leads (onsite or remote) kick-offs and milestone meetings within the prescribed methodology.

  • Ensures completion of all project activities and documents to be completed with documents stored in approved repository.

RISK MITIGATION AND ISSUE RESOLUTION

  • Consistently performs risk management on all aspects of the project to minimize issues and impacts to customer adoption.

  • Responsible for effectively managing the constraints of project management: Scope, Cost, Schedule, and measurable outcomes.

  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client- satisfaction goals and objective

  • Appropriately report and escalate to management as needed

OPERATIONAL IMPROVEMENTS

  • Keeps current on advances and best practices in project management methodologies and contributes improvements to the maturity of project management practices for the services team.

  • Develops and manages all facets of the project(s) across enterprises from intake through implementation and closure in adherence to Implementation Services best practices and policies.

  • Ensures the project adheres to all Corporate and IT policies and standards of Medtronic and the customer.

Autonomy: Seasoned individual contributor. Works independently under limited supervision to determine and develop approach to solutions. Coaches and reviews the work of lower level specialists; may manage projects / processes.

Organizational Impact: May be responsible for entire projects or processes within job area. Contributes to the completion of work group objectives, through building relationships and consensus to reach agreements on assignments.

Innovation and Complexity: Problems and issues faced are difficult, and may require understanding of multiple issues, job areas or specialties . Makes improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of the job area. Analysis provided is in-depth in nature and often provides recommendations on process improvements. Able to see both big picture strategically, while also being involved and seasoned on details and tactics.

Communication and Influence: Communicates with C-suite and senior, both internal and external customers, vendors and partners. Exchange information of facts, statuses, ideas and issues to achieve objective, and influence decision-making. Conducts briefings with senior leaders within the job function. Negotiates with others to reach commitments, understanding or agreement.

  • Strong individual leadership skills driven to be accountable and own the overall success of the project outcomes.

  • Up to 25-50% Travel

  • Project Management Professional certified (PMP), or industry relevant certification is a plus

  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of leadership including C-Suite.

  • Ability to understand multiple facets of multiple projects while maintaining larger overall organizational goals and strategy

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.

  • Ability to steer and influence cross functional and external groups in the prescribed direction.

  • Understands the right times to escalate and request for governance.

  • Provides insight and strategic recommendations to projects to support multiple stakeholders within a project.

  • Operates and drives initiatives and projects with a strong sense of urgency.

  • Ability to understand the roles and resources of key stakeholders within a project team.

  • On occasion, travel onsite for customer visits within strategic and complex

Qualifications & Experience

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced Degree preferred

YEARS OF EXPIERIENCE:

Minimum of 5 years direct Healthcare IT or SaaS project management and implementation experience as a vendor or in any related management consulting function.

Minimum of 3 years at a IT, SaaS, or related industry

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$119,200.00 - $178,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
