The Water Quality Program *within the Department of Ecology is looking to fill a *Hydropower Projects Manager, Central Region (Environmental Specialist 4) position. This position may be located* in either our *Headquarters Office in* *Lacey, WA{rel="nofollow"} or *Central Region Office *in Union Gap, WA{rel="nofollow"}. Upon hire, you must live within a commutable distance from the selected duty station.
In this position, you will work with hydropower natural resource staff in the Columbia Basin, including three Public Utility Districts that own five large dams on the upper Columbia River in central Washington. You will manage these utilities' water quality and habitat requirements to protect fish, recreation, habitat, and other important uses of these rivers. A small team of Ecology staff who manage other hydropower dams across the state will help you to learn this specialized area of the Clean Water Act. Your work will involve close collaboration with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, which provides support for fish habitat and enhancement at these facilities. Fieldwork will involve several annual and some seasonal site visits to central Washington, allowing you to work directly with the dam operators responsible for complying with state water quality regulations.

Telework options for this position: *This position will have flexibility of a hybrid schedule, empowering work from home and office, providing less time in traffic and shrinking your carbon footprint.
