WorkSource Oregon Police Officer - Entry Level / Lateral Transfer in LA GRANDE, Oregon
Requirements: * High school diploma or equivalent. * United States citizenship. * Two (2) years of successful work history. * Twenty-one (21) years of age or older to carry firearms. * Valid driver\'s license to drive employer vehicle or obtain one within 30 days. * Successfully complete department physical, written, interview, background, psychological, medical, and drug screening. * Must meet all DPSST certification standards and complete the DPSST Basic Police Course and receive certification within one year of hire. LATERAL TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS: Lateral police officer candidates must have been in good standing with his/her most recent police agency as a sworn police officer for a recognized state, county, city or tribal entity. Additionally, if the lateral transfer candidate is from Oregon, they must have completed at least 3 years of continuous service with their agency prior to any potential hire date with the City of La Grande. Duties: * To fulfill the police mission at the primary level of execution. * Prevent and repress crime through patrol activity. * Enforce City Ordinances, State, and Federal laws. * Apprehend offenders, and secure compliance in lesser non-criminal matters. * Perform other related activities peripheral to basic police duties in the area of community service. * Must independently and consistently make appropriate and quality high-level decisions and judgments. **Open until filled** EOE / AAE Equal Opportunity Employer / Affirmative Action employer
