Dairyland Power Cooperative Intern, Finance in La Crosse, Wisconsin

Under the general direction of Finance Department Leadership team, the Finance Intern will be provided the opportunity to learn the theory and aspects of cooperative finance and accounting. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in risk analysis, financial research, and basic accounting tasks. This position will support the finance team with various projects and tasks and is an opportunity to develop applicable skills, experience professional growth, and contribute to our strategic initiatives.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Assist with reviewing, organizing and filing legacy documentation

  2. Reviewing procedures, vendor maintenance support,

  3. Compile and tracking of financial metrics and various financial reports

  4. Assist with audits

  5. Assist with performing financial reconciliations and ad-hoc data entry

  6. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must be at least 18 years of age and should have the ability to work full-time during the summer (40 hours per week) and minimum of 10 hours weekly during the academic year. Workdays are flexible to accommodate student schedules within normal business hours.

  2. Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university degree program in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or any other relevant field entering their junior or senior year. Accounting course work is preferred.

  3. Strong analytical skills, a keen interest in finance, and a desire to learn and grow are required.

  4. Experience with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint required

  5. Must have the ability to be self-directed and follow-through on tasks and projects in order to meet deadlines.

  6. Must be detail conscious, responsible, dependable, and able to work well in a team environment

  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective time management and relationship building skills are essential.

  8. Candidates should be able to quickly learn new methods and processes

Physical Demands : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate in person or in writing and is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Potentially lift and move boxes weighing up to 25 lbs to manage filing and documentation needs.
