Hiring Salary Range: $60,000 - $90,234

Compensation is determined by a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, work experience, and certifications. The actual offer may vary, reflecting the candidate's unique blend of experience, educational background, and skill level.

In this role, you'll be able to leverage our Flexible Workplace Policy by working in a hybrid manner. This will allow you to divide your time between our collaborative office environment in La Crosse, WI and the comfort of your personal home workspace. The Impact You'll Have in this Role:

Under general supervision, perform accounting work requiring professional knowledge and theory and practice of recording, classifying, examining and analyzing data records for various financial transactions. Provide accounting service to management by preparing financial statements and reports, analyzing and communicating the results. Assist in implementing new accounting standards and/or compliance requirements as requested.

  1. Analyze and account for general ledger data transactions and prepare appropriate journal entries. Perform routine daily, bi-weekly, monthly, and yearly job assignments using the financial system. Assist in monitoring progress and posting journal entries from source systems to the general ledger. Prepare, analyze, and provide required routine reports and ad hoc financial reports.

  2. General accounting duties will include work related to the following tasks:

• Analyze, maintain, and reconcile general ledger accounts, project activity or specific analyses as assigned including month-end reconciliations with purchasing and analysis of stores overhead rates

• Analyze, maintain or assist with plant information and billings related to joint plant arrangements

• Prepare or assist with preparation of required filings and reports for RUS and various state agencies

• Prepare analyses/schedules for auditors as assigned.

• Assist in the preparation of the annual report.

  1. Assist with Capital Project, Billable Project work, and Fixed Asset workload. Monitor various reports and analytics for internal and external users within these functions.

  2. Work with a team to create standards and metrics as we build process improvements among our team and our organization.

  3. Perform other duties as assigned. Perform or assist with special projects requiring knowledge of the general accounting function, financial reporting and applicable accounting standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance. Minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible experience in accounting, with thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures applicable to the utility or similar industry. Utility industry experience is desirable.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of financial systems

• Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills preferred

• Change management/process improvement experience preferred

• Ability to manage confidential information

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

• Ability to interface effectively with individuals at various levels, both internal and external

• Excellent attention to detail
