Job summary: Primarily responsible for the overall safety, quality and productivity of the production areas ensuring on-time delivery while maintaining cost of goods sold (COGS) to budget plans. Will foster engaged employees that drives continuous improvement through Lean Six Sigma (LSS) principles such as Statistical Process Controls (SPC) and DMAIC process, ensuring the optimal utilization of employees, equipment and material according to all order fulfilment requirements – quality, timeliness and cost Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Plan and manage the daily operation of assigned department(s), including the daily management and maintenance of staffing levels (direct/contract) and budget accountability to accomplish plant objectives in an effective and efficient manner • Provide necessary training and reinforcement to workforce to ensure they understand and can apply the skills required to produce quality products according to Greene, Tweed and customer requirements; • Administer Company rules, regulations & safety policies, initiating and recommending corrective actions; • Provide direction, and strength of Leadership, initiating communication and working cross functionally across all levels, collaborating between shifts/departments on a consistent basis. Addresses issues and maintains availability to operators to answer questions as required; • Actively analyze department performance against metrics and identify opportunity for continuous improvement. Creates, posts and communicates to ensure everyone understands their role in achieving plant commitments; • Guide workforce in the compliance to Standard Work, recommends improvements in Work Instructions, methods, processes, policies and equipment and ensures operators are informed Required Minimum Qualifications Education/Certifications:
• HS Diploma/GED required; Preference given to candidates with BS Degree
• Lean/Six Sigma certification desired Skills and Experience: • 5 years of previous manufacturing experience, including exposure to leading/directing the work of others; Ideal candidate will have 3 years’ direct supervision experience in a manufacturing environment • Previous experience in a Lean manufacturing environment, focused on continuous improvement and High Performance Work teams desired • Demonstrated ability to lead by example, serving as a positive role model to others and embracing standard work required • Strong communication skills required, including the ability to effectively communicate across multiple levels in the organization. • Metric driven/analytical problem solving experience required - root cause analysis/six sigma training a plus
