IT Network Technician Associate

Full Time, Day Shift, 80 Hours Per Pay Period

Position Summary:

Reporting to the IT Network Group Manager, under direct supervision, the Network Technician Associate will be responsible for providing quality support to internal and external customers over the phone, via email, and in person. Possess knowledge of network basics and non-vendor specific protocols. Basic knowledge of LAN/WAN topology. Be resourceful to team and management as a problem solver, able to do whatever is needed for the better of the group in order to provide successful resolutions to network issues.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for configuring, installing, and maintaining/troubleshooting all aspects of the data network.

  • Responsible for assisting in the testing and analysis of all elements of the network including, but not limited to, power, data connectivity, network monitoring software, and configuration changes.

  • Communicates with other IT groups as well as vendor support service groups to identify and collect information to assist in resolving network issues in conjunction with experienced network group team members.

  • Possesses a basic understanding of troubleshooting skills of LAN/WAN wired and wireless connectivity.

  • Communicates and works cohesively with IT Technical Services Project Managers in all aspects of facility projects as well as ask appropriate level questions and gather information for network group discussions of proper resolution, while completing tasks on time and under budget.

  • Provides detailed documentation using Visio, Word and Excel.

  • Monitors network performance and advises team of network status.

  • Works directly with experienced network group members, shadowing daily activities in order to gain knowledge of network processes and standards.

  • Ability and awareness to work in any capacity with entire team in an effort to provide resolution to complex network issues and task assigned, while being available to provide onsite support in order to plan for repairs.

  • Local travel required

  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associates degree in related field or one (1) year equivalent work experience.

Minimum Experience: One (1) year of experience in troubleshooting complex data networks consisting of wired and wireless. Understanding of network hardware such as, switches, firewalls, and UPS. Basic understanding of TCP/IP & LAN based networking support and troubleshooting. Preference may be given to individuals who currently hold certifications such as, CCNA, CompTIA Network +, and CompTIA A+.

Licensure Requirement: Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license Class D and state mandated minimum insurance coverage. Driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment tenure.
