Job Description

Job Summary:

Responsible for the development and implementation of activities in laboratory production area(s) to meet production goals, quality and cost objectives. Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. This job will make budgetary recommendations on capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Selects and develops personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory production areas and develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas. Teledyne may, at its discretion modify or add further duties not currently listed in the general job description. Assignments tend to be of moderate complexity, diversification or expense. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and process to meet goals outlined. Normally does not receive instructions on routine work, detailed instructions provided on new projects or assignments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. (other duties may be assigned):

  • Coordinate workflow activities between all laboratory sections.

  • Supervise and assign duties for Process Specialist(s), Separations, Loading and Measurements Technician(s) as required.

  • Data Production and Reports

  • Supervise or prepare, QC and transmit both legacy and IFM measurement sample reports for AFTAC headquarters.

  • Oversee or perform QC and research for sample information request and report results to AFTAC.

  • Produce ad hoc reports and database queries as required.

  • Manage and maintain GM tube supply.

  • Tube receipt, warranty repair, calibration schedule and tube maintenance.

  • Supervise and track/analyze bias in GM tubes and counting channels.

  • Laboratory Documentation

  • Develop, revise, review and validate laboratory procedures.

  • Procurement

  • Supervise or perform procurement activities, (Reqs, PO’s and contracts)

  • Track LN2 consumption.

  • Equipment

  • Ensure PMR and calibration schedules are established and followed.

  • Monitor GM-tube performance.

  • Maintain adequate compressed gas cylinder inventory.

  • Coordinate the troubleshooting and maintenance of AFTAC laboratory equipment.

  • Manage Production Laboratory Personnel

  • Manage your own personal actions and distinguish those from one needed to be delegated.

  • Delegate assignments appropriately.

  • Develop career progressions for your team.

  • Perform employee Timesheet approval.

  • Manage Laboratory Training

  • Program Documentation

  • Training Records

  • Tasks Evaluations

  • Quarterly Records Review

  • Ensure good laboratory housekeeping standards are maintained.

  • Ensure End-of-Day Safety/Security procedures are performed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in a related positions and 0-2 years of directly related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze and interpret various business documents, technical procedures and government regulations. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and response to questions before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP Software.

  • US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance.

  • Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately +/-10_%
