Summary You will serve as a TECHNICAL WRITER EDITOR in the WATERFRONT SUPPORT BRANCH, WATERFRONT SUPPORT DIVISION, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will serve as Technical Editor/Writer and assist the Uniform Industrial Process Instruction (UIPI) Program manager and Technical Directives Quality Assurance Administrator. You will ensure that the technical, administrative, and management objectives and requirements are being met. You will assist in directing, coordinating, and monitoring the efforts of all departments, divisions, and offices of the Shipyard in Technical Directives matters. You will edit, review, and issue local technical directives (UIPIs, UIPI Local Releases (URELs), Process Instructions (PIs), and Technical Specifications (Tech Specs) using general knowledge of submarine systems and work procedures. You will perform peer review and training/mentoring for Junior Technical Editors/Writers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conducting technical writing, editing, reviewing, and issuance of technical directives. Experience ensuring accuracy and timeliness of assigned work to meet directive issue schedules. Experience editing/reviewing technical directives prepared by other departments. Experience using all Microsoft Office based programs and database including Access, Excel, Power Point, Word, their applications, etc. Experience applying all aspects of English grammar. GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience conducting technical writing, editing, reviewing, of technical directives. Experience editing/reviewing technical directives prepared by other departments. Experience using all Microsoft Office based programs and database including Access, Excel, Power Point, Word, their applications, etc. Experience applying all aspects of English grammar.
