Rate: Pay Grade: C -- $17.6382 hour/$36,687 annual to $27.7171 hour/$57,651 annual -- minimum starting salary based on prior experience and education

Position Description:
Under direction of the Park Building & Grounds Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Specialist performs various maintenance tasks, assuring the public's safety and maintaining the overall condition of park buildings and facilities.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performs building related maintenance including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and janitorial.
- Maintains park buildings and amenities including shelters, restrooms, parking lots, roadways, trails, playgrounds and other structures; including snow and ice control.
- Assists with building improvements and upgrades.
- Assists with construction activities throughout the parks.
- Completes required inspections, record keeping and documentation.
- Operates and maintains equipment: performs preventative maintenance and basic repairs.
- Assists with opening/closing buildings and construction activities.
- Performs custodial tasks before and after daily visitation, park programs, rentals, and community events which may include sweeping and mopping the floor, washing tables, emptying trash/recycling, washing windows, cleaning restrooms and stocking with toilet paper and hand towels.
- Orders and stocks maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Assists with set-up and tear down of large special events and park programs.
- Assures compliance with all related safety regulations, continuing safety education as required.
- Assists other departments as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum 1 year maintenance experience or equivalent training/education is required.
Pesticide Applicators license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge or understanding of building maintenance and janitorial tasks.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical techniques/skills.
- Ability to learn maintenance specialty areas included but not limited to; HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, painting, masonry, and electrical work.
- Ability to operate all types of building maintenance equipment, including power tools, vacuums, floor scrubbers and waxers, with knowledge of applicable safety standards.
- Ability to learn related safety regulations.
- Ability to process data, maintain records and inventories, and follow inspection processes.
- Ability to work from varied heights on platforms, scaffolds, ladders, and roofs or in confined spaces.
- Skilled in written and oral communication.
- Skilled in performing moderate construction, painting, electrical and plumbing tasks.
- Skilled in customer service and interpersonal communication with the ability to interact professionally with all types of people.
- Ability to operate vehicles/truck and trailer properly.
- Ability to troubleshoot commercial HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- May be occasionally required to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.
Must possess a valid drivers' license and insurable on the Agency's liability policy. Pre-employment drug screening and background check required.
