Description
A.T. Still University is seeking a full-time non-exempt Boiler Plant Operator for the Kirksville, MO campus. This position is responsible for boiler operations, equipment maintenance, and general upkeep of the boiler plant.
Major Job Duties
Operate and monitor boilers in the Boiler Plant.
Investigate and record the performance of off-site equipment.
Record data.
Perform repairs on boilers and equipment as needed.
Report issues.
Test water parameters.
Perform custodial duties for the Boiler Plant.
Maintain a safe working environment.
Scheduled repairs.
Preventative maintenance.
Wash down and clean boilers.
Inspecting tools and equipment.
Checking and stocking supplies.
Maintain brine tank salt level.
Removing debris and washing out trough drain.
Assist with repairs in the Boiler Plant and limited ancillary equipment across campus as needed.
Prepare equipment for inspections as required.
Handling of chemical treatment containment and equipment.
Special projects related to the Boiler Plant.
Checking UST manholes and clearing any debris.
Perform switching operations between fuel sources as needed.
Complete training as required.
Reporting Responsibilities
Boiler plant operator shift log.
Steam service incident report.
Chemical testing results.
Inspection documentation.
Education/Experience
Highschool diploma plus one year technical training or schooling.
Training to include: Mechanical troubleshooting and repair; boiler operation; electrical, including 3-phase; plumbing; steam service and distribution; underground storage tanks.
6-12 months experience preferred.
Training could be obtained on the job depending on the applicants background and aptitude.

Other Information
The Boiler Plant operates around the clock, so operators need to be adaptable to work any shift.
Shifts are scheduled as follows: 7:00am to 3:00pm, 3:00pm to 11:00pm, and 11:00pm to 7:00am.
Operators must be capable of exercising independent and timely judgment.
