Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of The World’s Best® heavy and medium duty trucks. Position Summary

The transmission integration team is looking for a team member with a strong interest in automotive technology and comprehensive understanding of transmission system integration. In this role, the transmission system engineer will work closely with PACCAR suppliers, embedded engineering, aftermarket service teams, and production facilities to define, document, and maintain required messaging between transmission, vehicle, and service tool interfaces. Additionally, the position will be responsible to drive implementation of new products and software amongst internal groups.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Serve as the transmission system owner for North American PACCAR vehicles.

  • Work directly with suppliers to understand new features, hardware, and software changes and how they will integrate into PACCAR vehicles.

  • Maintain engineering drawing and documents for transmission software and parameters, input/output documents, and diagnostic tool requirements.

  • Coordinate with verification, and validation teams to direct embedded engineering and service tool teams on required changes.

  • Lead trouble-shooting an issue resolution for production and field issues related to transmission programming and performance.

  • Lead internal teams to complete required updates and validation activities.

  • Use Six Sigma tools to support engineering gate reviews and validation activities for transmission software integration and transmission parameter sets.

    Qualifications / Skills

  • BSME or equivalent required.

  • 3-5 years of transmission calibration or transmission systems integration experience required.

  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols: J1939, UDS, XCP, Ethernet, CAN-bus, LIN-bus

  • Program management or project leadership experience desired.

  • Experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components preferred.

  • Exceptional communication skills at both technical and non-technical levels.

    Additional Job Board Information

The salary range for Sr Mechanical Design Engineer-Transmission System is $84,000-$131,700 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
