Macfadden & Associates DRC, a branch of Macfadden & Associates Inc., an Amentum company, has provided the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA) with disaster preparedness, response, and recovery as well as technical and administrative support services since 1993. Through the DRC Logistics and Administrative Program (DRC LAS) Macfadden has been supporting BHA in the DRC in both North and South Kivu Provinces, providing BHA DART teams, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Ministry of Health (MOH) with logistics and technical support.

Background

The purpose of this project is to provide logistic and administrative services to USAID/BHA staff, USAID/DRC Mission staff, and authorized United States Government (USG) temporary duty (TDY) personnel while they are traveling primarily in North, South Kivu and Haut Katanga provinces in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) for official business. DRC-LAS is in the process of establishing a small office based in Lubumbashi to better support the United States Government (USG) staff traveling to the south of the DRC.

Position

Macfadden seeks a Driver to provide professional driving services for the DRC-LAS program in the Haut Katanga province. Drivers shall have a valid driving license with a solid safety track record showing that there have been no at fault accidents within the past 3 years. The drivers will be required to dress professionally and represent the DRC-LAS program while providing driving services using rented vehicles to USG personnel on official travel. The drivers shall provide prompt and timely services according to a pre-approved schedule managed by the DRC-LAS management team and will be available to provide immediate driving support if and when required by DRC-LAS leadership. Drivers shall understand the established vehicle use policies and adhere to Macfadden/Amentum ’s requirements regarding vehicle use, safeguarding, safety, compliance with all rules and legal requirements and ensuring all services are provided with respecting the highway code in force in the DRC. The drivers report to the Logistics Assistant.

Position Length

Full time position. From date of hire to on/about September 14, 2025.

Responsibilities (but not limited to):

  • Provide driver services as required to support all DRC-LAS activities in Haut Katanga province.

  • Respect and apply the rules for daily and regular checks on the vehicle provided – checks shall be performed prior to vehicle acceptance from rental company and during use as required.

  • Check that all communication equipment (HF, VHF and satphone) is in good working order, and that the vehicle is equipped with emergency equipment, a toolbox, the mission order and all valid vehicle documents.

  • Comply with Macfadden transport rules and principles relating to the safety of USAID passengers and property on board and outside the vehicle during travel (seat belts, speed limit, maximum weight and proper stowage of cargo, cargo documents (waybill, packing list), emergency trunk if necessary.

  • Ensure the safety of the vehicle and contents when parked.

  • Provide on time safe transport of USG personnel as directed by DRC-LAS management

  • Ensure professional dress and comportment at all times during the workday and adhere to Amentum’s policies and procedures including but not limited to the ethics policy.

  • Comply with safety rules relating to movement and communication for vehicles in the field

  • Immediately inform DRC-LAS management of any incident or accident, as well as any unusual situation that may arise on its route.

  • Ensures that valid legal documents for road traffic and the various Macfadden forms required are present in the vehicle provided.

  • Update logbook in accordance with Macfadden principles.

  • Report to base any movement of the vehicle, its destination and the people on board.

  • Supervise all loading and unloading of the vehicle

  • Provide the protocol service at the airport

  • Be flexible and take on any other tasks assigned to you by the hierarchy

Qualifications:

  • High school education.

  • Over 25 years of age and at least 5 years of driving experience, preferably with an international NGO.

  • Maintain an updated and valid driver’s license with zero accidents on record for the past three years at a minimum.

  • Demonstrated communication skills (oral & written) in French required. Basic English, Kiswahili, and Swahili preferred and proficiency in Lingala.

  • Knowledge of radio communication required.

  • Mechanical knowledge required, and good knowledge of vehicle tracking management.

  • Knowledge of the geographical plan and routes of Haut Katanga and Lualaba is required.

  • For Emergency Response Efforts, drivers must be willing to demobilize and relocate to other parts of the country if such need arises

  • Driving services must always be available upon request.
