The Arc Mid-Hudson is seeking a Director of Development and Community Relations, who will be responsible for developing and managing donor relations, special events and annual giving campaigns as well as collaborating with the Sr. Director of Communications to create campaigns, event materials, and promote sponsorship and giving opportunities to individuals, businesses, and corporations.

This position, which reports to the CEO, will provide staff leadership for The Arc Mid-Hudson development plan working with staff, the Foundation Board Chair and committee members, sponsors, and vendors, with a focus on building external relationships and strategically increasing revenue.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • In collaboration with the Foundation Board of Directors, responsible for developing and achieving annual fundraising goals to increase the financial growth The Arc Mid-Hudson Foundation.

  • Participate as a member of Foundation Board Meetings.

  • Research new prospect sponsors to support overall fundraising campaigns and special events.·

  • Represent The Arc Mid-Hudson at non-agency sponsored community events.

  • Develop and monitor the annual fundraising budget to include special events, individual, foundation and corporate giving, the annual appeal and campaigns.

  • Provide leadership on special events, developing strategy, program, execution, goals and budget. Creates and manages special event solicitation plan and solicitations/invites including in-person, mail, email and phone solicitation.

  • Recommend and execute event programs to include venue, mission messaging, speakers, as well as pre-planning and on-site logistical details including banqueting, audiovisual equipment, decor, entertainment, auctions, and volunteers.

  • In collaboration with the Foundation Board of Directors, lead the process of researching, nominating, and securing special event volunteer leadership and honorees.

  • Conduct research on potential businesses for donations and sponsorships. Prospect regularly with in-person visits to individual sponsors for continued or new support for special events and other fund development initiatives.

  • Work with Sr. Director of Communications in developing and proofreading literature, press releases, mailings, and newsletters.

  • Prepares all sponsorship program materials related to special events and individual giving, annual appeals including gift level and other recognition.

  • Manage email lists for social media campaigns and e-blasts for events and agency updates.

  • Manage mailing list for membership, newsletter, event registrations.

  • Develop correspondence to communicate progress and Foundation updates to attendees, donors, and supporters on a regular basis.

  • Maintain agency website and Classy platform by creating graphics, content for events.

  • Manage database, reconcile events, and generate reports using Donor Perfect and MailChimp.

  • Process departmental invoices and purchase orders.

  • May be required to work evenings and weekends as needed.

    SCHEDULE: 40/Monday - Friday/will include some evenings and weekends

    STARTING SALARY: $ 68,000+ per year

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates Degree and 5 year’s marketing and foundation experience.

  • Strong experience in fundraising activities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent organization skills.

  • Excellent working knowledge and understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Publisher, Access, Power point & Teams.

  • Knowledge of Donor Perfect and Classy a plus.

  • Strong knowledge of a variety of Social Media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and SnapChat.

  • Supervisory experience in a team environment.

  • Ideal candidate should be enthusiastic, and flexible; a quick learner; and independent, strong self-starter; and able to quickly gain confidence and coordinate projects from start to finish with varying degrees of supervision. Experience in the field of I/DD preferred
