We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer based out of Kings Bay, GA.

What You’ll get to Do:

Be responsible for providing technical assistance during the conduct of preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on submarine (SSBN and SSGN) Launcher subsystem tactical and support equipment (including ordnance items) at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in Kings Bay, GA.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Preparing local processing documentation

  • Providing training to internal and external personnel

  • Conducting documentation/design reviews

  • Completing floor level quality functions

  • Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic systems

  • Recommending corrective action for equipment repairs

  • Devising equipment design and procedural changes to improve safety and efficiency

  • Providing direction/oversight during the conduct of work performed by repair technicians

  • Assisting Field Engineers on SSBN/SSGNs during waterfront operations

  • Providing support at other field sites such as shipyards and test facilities

  • Supporting various customer meetings at both NGSC-MS Sunnyvale and customer locations

  • Periodic shift work may be required based on operational needs

Basic Qualifications for a Systems Engineer:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, or Master's degree and 0 years of work experience.

  • Experience with any one or more of the following backgrounds: Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear (SSBN), or Ship Submersible Guided Missile Nuclear (SSGN), or Strategic Weapons Systems operations, or Shipyard Integrated Test Program, or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or System Engineering

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start and must have the ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance for continued employment.

  • Must be willing to work on an occasional rotating schedule, as needed; including periodic shift work and weekend work may be required to meet the needs of our customer

  • Must be willing to support occasional travel up to 10%, both CONUS (continental U.S.) and OCONUS (outside the continental U.S.)

  • Experience with any one or more of the following backgrounds: Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear (SSBN), or Ship Submersible Guided Missile Nuclear (SSGN), or Strategic Weapons Systems operations, or Shipyard Integrated Test Program, or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or System Engineering

  • Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain an Interim Secret Clearance prior to start and must have the ability to obtain and maintain an Active Secret Clearance for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An active Secret Clearance

  • Experience in operating in a government-owned facility

  • Experience with Strategic System Program (SSP) operations and the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) Program

Salary Range: $71,400 - $107,000

Salary Range 2: $87,800 - $131,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
