ASRC Federal Holding Company Telecommunications Mechanic II /Electronics Technician III in King Salmon, Alaska

ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Telecommunications Mechanic II /Electronics Technician III for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer. This non-rotational permanent position is located at King Salmon Divert Airfield, Alaska. The selected employee will be provided a government one-bedroom dormitory apartment on site. If bringing family members renting/buying a house offsite will be at the employees own costs. There is no meal service at King Salmon, employees are responsible for providing their own meals. You are responsible for your flight from your home base to Anchorage; The company provides an additional stipend three times annually for flights between Anchorage and King Salmon.

King Salmon Airport (KS): KS is situated within the Bristol Bay Borough of Alaska, approximately 239 miles southwest of Anchorage and is part of the Alaska Time Zone. The community of King Salmon (population 400) is located along the north bank of the Naknek River and is connected to the community of Naknek (population 600) via a 15 mile highway. Bristol Bay and King Salmon are accessible and can be resupplied only by air and sea.

  • Summary/General Description Of Job: The incumbent is responsible for all maintenance and repair of site communications equipment, including the telephone switch, local area network, land mobile radios and computers. All maintenance associated with the Information Technology equipment and network.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Keeps Management apprised of unique situations and problems encountered. Makes recommendations and advise Management regarding continuous process, quality and efficiency improvements.

  • Performs preventive maintenance inspections on electronic equipment.

  • Manages, maintains, updates and repairs all associated computers, routers, peripherals, etc. required to maintain network connectivity throughout the Installation.

  • Tests, inspects, aligns, and repairs electronics Line Replacement Units (LRU) as required.

  • Maintains all elements of the site phone system.

  • Maintains and repairs cable distribution, video, and trunk cable facilities.

  • Repairs and manufactures all multi-pin (flexible) cable assemblies required to maintain base systems.

  • Makes emergency repairs of all ribbon cable assemblies and semi-rigid coaxial cable assemblies necessary to maintain base systems.

  • Operates and maintains communication electronic equipment.

  • Works from blueprints, drawings, models and/or verbal and written instructions

  • Inspects work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, policies, and regulations.

  • Ensures proper housekeeping of jobsite, mechanical rooms, and shops. Ensures that equipment, storage, and maintenance areas are clean, safe, and serviceable conditions. Tasks include but are not limited to: general maintenance, snow removal, grounds maintenance, and road maintenance.

  • Responds to call-outs after normal working hours, as needed.

  • Performs other tasks as directed by Management (or Designated Representative).

  • Assists other trades and craft personnel in their daily operations, as directed.

Accountable For:

  • The safe use of hand and power tools used in the course of routine or incidental work performed.

  • Demonstrating knowledge of Airfield Safety to include but not limited to: Flightline driving, communications and radio protocols, FOD prevention, Environmental Protection and Pollution Prevention and aircraft movement.

  • Demonstrating personal and enforcing Team Members Safety to include but not limited to: wearing of appropriate PPE, access to Confined Spaces, Daily Safety Awareness, Accident and Fire Prevention and control over hazardous Materials.

  • Performing duties in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner.

  • Working closely, respectfully and harmoniously with other employees and customer.

  • Working independently without continuous supervision.

  • Assist other trades in the safe execution of work being performed to include but not limited to: performing recurring work, maintenance and repairs

  • Following and adhering to all ASRC and Air Force policies and procedures including safety and reporting requirements

Requirements :

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as journeyman in at least one of the major electronic fields.

  • Experience with base FM radio systems, intercoms, telephone switch equipment, and associated subsystems and transmission lines.

  • Experience with SIPRNET / NIPRNET and its functions

  • Ability to read and interpret logic diagrams, schematic diagrams, and follow signal flow through telephone, radio, and C-E-M equipment.

  • Thorough understanding of basic electronic/electrical theory.

  • Possess DoDM 8140.03 qualification, e.g. CompTIA Security+ certification.

  • Obtain and maintain a Federal Government Security Clearance (NACI).

  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

  • Pass a Fire Brigade physical and remain an active member of the Fire Brigade.

  • Obtain and maintain required task certifications as a Barrier Team member.

Preferred

  • Previous experience with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

  • Associates degree in a computer related field and three (3) years of computer/help desk experience.

  • Previous experience with MS Server 2000, MS Server 2003, MS Server 2008, and MS SQL Server 2008

Work Conditions:

The employee is regularly required to understand verbal and written instructions, provide information, and respond to safety warnings. Work conditions require the employee to stand; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and work on scaffolding and ladders. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
