Reference #: B20406EC-AE29-4 Job Summary The Scientist - Polymer Characterization position will report to the Group Leader, Polymer Characterization within the Analytical and Systems Research Group and focus on rheological analysis of Arkema's existing and developmental products. Using these techniques, this position is responsible for the development of structure-property relationships useful for technology development. This position supports R&D, Applications Development, Technical Service, and Process Technology to solve problems spanning a diverse range of chemistries.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design, develop, and utilize standard rheological techniques to conduct analyses on developmental and existing products spanning Arkema's technology portfolio. Organize and interpret data, generate IP, and issue technology reports detailing the results of the analysis. Maintain awareness of new/novel polymer characterization techniques and apply them to Arkema interests and products (50%) Assist in rheological lab operations including, but not limited to workload planning, asset management, capital planning, and strategic plan development (20%) Initiate and champion new projects leading to enhanced understanding of Arkema technology (10%) Actively participate in and support Arkema safety initiatives (10%) Collaborate with other group scientists, participate in external organizations/societies (10%)

Education and Experience Candidates will have degrees in Polymer Science/Engineering or Chemistry. PhD with up to two years or MS with 7 years industrial experience will be considered.

Competencies Knowledge of polymer characterization techniques with a focus on rheology. Experience with affiliated techniques is desirable. Must be effective in a fast paced environment and able to apply creative solutions to solve problems covering a wide range of materials. Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to interact at all levels within the organization. Demonstrated track record of collaboration.
