Overview
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING AND WAREHOUSE TECHNICIAN (AT):
The Mechanical Engineering and Warehouse Technician is a dual-role position responsible for supporting mechanical engineering projects while managing warehouse operations. This position combines hands-on technical work, inventory management, and maintenance of equipment and supplies. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with engineering drawings and quality assurance techniques, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The position is 100% on site in King George, VA.
Responsibilities
Mechanical Engineering Support:
Assist in the assembly, testing, and maintenance of mechanical systems, machinery, and prototypes.
Collaborate with engineers to modify designs and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment.
Perform quality inspections on parts, components, and final assemblies to ensure compliance with specifications.
Interpret and work with engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
Utilize metrology tools and techniques to ensure precise measurements and alignment.
Maintain accurate documentation of test results, repairs, and engineering processes.
Warehouse Operations:
Manage inventory, including receiving, storing, and tracking parts, materials, and equipment.
Organize and maintain warehouse spaces to ensure cleanliness and efficiency.
Fulfill orders by picking, packing, and preparing items for shipment.
Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and identify shortages.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate with procurement teams for replenishment.
Duties:
Perform receipt inspection and acceptance; collect and record inspection data; document non-conformances and propose corrective actions.
Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment and warehouse tools.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies in both engineering and warehouse activities.
Support the engineering team in material sourcing and project planning.
Train and guide team members on warehouse and mechanical processes as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Associate degree in mechanical engineering technology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered.
Two (2+) years of experience in mechanical engineering, warehouse operations, or a similar role.
Knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and materials.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T (preferred).
Familiarity with metrology tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, CMM) and quality inspection techniques.
Knowledge of quality assurance processes and industry standards.
Proficiency in using mechanical tools, diagnostic equipment, and CAD software (preferred).
Soft Skills:
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
Problem-solving mindset and the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
Frequent standing, bending, walking, and kneeling in warehouse and workshop environments.
Comfortable working in varying conditions, including temperature fluctuations and noise.
Manual dexterity for operating tools and equipment with precision.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
