Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - per PTEA schedule

Summary of Position

Responsible for educating and training students in various aspects of automotive systems, including diagnostics, repair, and maintenance. This role involves developing and delivering curriculum, providing hands-on instruction, assessing student progress, and fostering strong industry connections to prepare students for successful careers in the automotive field.

Minimum Required Education

Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education in Automotive Technology or a closely related field required.

Minimum Required Experience

• 3-to-5 years of recent paid work experience, exclusive of teaching

• ASE Certifications: G-1 Maintenance & Light Repair, A-4 Suspension & Steering, A-5 Brakes, A-6 Electrical/Electronic Systems OR

• ASE Certifications within one year of hire

• Preferred: Master ASE

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  1. automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical components.

  2. various diagnostic tools, equipment, and industry-standard repair procedures.

  3. automotive technology trends and emerging technologies.

  4. instructional design and adult learning principles.

  5. OSHA safety standards and hazardous material requirements

Skill to:

  1. communicate effectively and present/convey complex technical concepts.

  2. solve problems and think critically.

  3. use diagnostic equipment and tools for hands-on demonstrations.

  4. organize and manage time and tasks.

  5. use an LMS (e.g., Blackboard) to deliver curriculum and track student progress.

  6. work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Ability to:

  1. engage and motivate students with various learning styles and backgrounds.

  2. design and deliver hands-on training activities and assessments.

  3. maintain industry partnerships and collaborate with local businesses.

  4. stay current with advancements in automotive technology

  5. update curriculum accordingly.
