Naval Supply Systems Command Materials Handler in Key West, Florida

Summary You will serve as a Materials Handler in the FLC JACKSONVILLE Product and Service Regional Transportation and Distribution for Transporation of Things (TOT) of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE. Responsibilities You will verify shipments by checking shipping documents and match specific item identification by name, stock number, letter, code, quantity, and unit of issue on containers. You will unload incoming shipments and documents receipt of material. You will apply material handling techniques in storing items providing for easy retrieval, convenience in handling, protection from damage, and ease of movement. You will coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials to facilitate movement of materials in accordance with priorities, scheduling requirements, and space allocations. You will operate equipment in a safe manner, applying established safety rules and regulations to minimize minor violations and to avoid major violations due to employee error or negligence. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform of a Materials Handler as demonstrated by experience working under normal supervision receiving, storing, selecting, shipping, pickup and delivery of general or specialized bulk materials and equipment; receive and deliver materials in a safe manner to assist customers; ensure both materials and equipment are properly and safely stored, protected and maintained; match, check, and compare data on selection instruments against materials to be issued or shipped; operate material handling equipment to move, stack, unstack, load, unload bin and position materials.
