Shift Overview

This position is available for 2nd and 3rd shift.

2nd Shift: Monday – Friday 3PM to 11PM with paid lunch, voluntary overtime before or after shift.

3rd Shift: Sunday – Thursday 11PM to 7AM with paid lunch, voluntary overtime before or after shift.

Essential Functions

  • Proficiently prepares, applies and confirms that customer surface preparation and coating requirements are achieved with consistent high quality.

  • Ensures substrate preparation compliance in that no dirt, oil or other contaminants are present which would have a deleterious effect on adhesion, visual appearance, or long-term coating integrity.

  • Coatings are prepared in accordance with manufacturers specifications and are applied and consumed within prescribed time limits without runs, sags, thin spots, etc. Assures adequate dry/cure time before handling to prevent coating damage due to air-borne contamination, finger marks, scratches, resulting from premature handling.

  • Adjusts paint and process parameters to account for atmospheric conditions (such as temperature and humidity) or coating anomalies to achieve the specified/ expected quality finish.

  • Should coating defect/repair be required, successfully "blends" the area to achieve excellent adhesion and smooth surfaces without evidence of "blotching effect".

  • Achieves the required uniform coating thickness without runs, sags, thin or heavy spots and confirms achievement through the usage of wet mil thickness or dry film gages.

  • Performs daily and weekly cleaning and preventive maintenance on painting and mixing equipment and ensures that required electrical grounds and air filtration systems are monitored, logged, cleaned or replaced in order to maintain effectiveness and compliance with applicable codes.

  • Every employee is expected to:

  • Complete all required paperwork including labor reporting and documentation of quality control and material movement.

  • Work safely and maintain the work area with high standards of housekeeping.

  • Perform self-inspection and other required quality control functions at the employee's workstation.

  • Perform required Preventive Maintenance activities on machinery and/or equipment operated.

  • Train and/or assist in the development of personnel.

  • Do the work in lower levels when assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervision.

Required Qualifications

  • Average mechanical skills with ability to read and write.

  • Works independently with moderate supervision.

  • Lifting requirements:

  • Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

  • Lifting devices are available and recommended. Infrequent lifting (3-6 times per shift) and/or carrying of 65 lb and 70 lb paint pails.

  • Must pass physical exam as required for use of respirator. Must also be capable of entering "confined space" areas as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School diploma, additional related technical school training OR one (1) to three (3) years painting experience.

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
