Job Summary
The Security Officer is responsible for providing safety and security services which require regular interactions with patients, visitors, caregivers, and clinicians in highly diverse and complex situations. Interacts with local law enforcement to provide information, event clarification, and coordinate emergency protocols. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provide safety and security services which includes; patrolling grounds, parking lots, buildings, securing entryways, exits, etc., to effectively address potential conduct issues, violations of policy, check for property damage, inspect safety issues, inspect certain safety features such as fire extinguishers or water valves, respond to all codes, address trespassing concerns, provide assistance with out of control patients, and utilizes electronic checkpoints.
Provide standby service or escort services for protection of caregivers or patients as needed. Respond to all emergency situations and applies appropriate protocols for the Code. Deliver courtesy services such as answering questions and providing directions.
Responsible for coordinating information, clarification of events, and coordinating emergency protocols which may require collaboration with external safety and law enforcement agencies.
Responsible for adhering to protocols. Complete, file and maintain correct documentation, filing reports, and assist with maintaining building access control by utilizing the computerized badge/door system.
Minimum Qualifications (Education & Experience)
Highschool Diploma or Equivalent
Proof of valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)
Two (2) years security, military or police experience is preferred. Healthcare security and self-defense experience is preferred.
Experience in community clinic preferred and a strong commitment to multi-disciplinary teamwork.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Tribal culture and lifestyle, working effectively with AI/AN populations.
Effective oral and written communication skills with sensitivity to the lifestyles of targeted participants.
Skills in operating personal computers using a variety of computer software.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and comply with all applicable federal and tribal privacy laws and KIC policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.).
Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently as well as with teams.

Conditions of Hire
May be required to possess and maintain a valid driver's license or capable of obtaining one, as well as be insurable by KIC’s company insurance.
KIC is a Drug-Free Workplace. All employees must adhere to KIC drug and alcohol policies and procedures to ensure a safe workplace. Employees must pass a pre-employment and subsequent random and/or for cause drug and alcohol screening to be eligible for and maintain employment.
KIC has several positions that must comply with the P.L. 101-630 Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Protection Act (ICPA); all employment offers in the " covered" classification are conditional until KIC has received a Federal criminal background check verifying eligibility to work in these programs.
