Job Summary
As an officer of the Court, the Court Clerk provides an essential role in the court by managing the daily tasks of the Family, Civil and Trial Court. The Clerk ensures the consistency, efficiency and effectiveness of court services by providing assistance to un'ina, the Judges, other tribes, outside agencies and Kenaitze departments and staff.
Essential Functions
- Schedule, record and transcribe court hearings in a timely manner
- Prepare template court orders for Judge's input of findings, obtain signatures, and distribute final orders in accordance with Tribal Court Code procedures
- Prepare and maintain tribal court case files
- Prepare notices, summons, subpoenas and other legal court documents or correspondence as required by the Kenaitze Tribal Court
- Receive and process petitions and complaints filed with the Tribal Court in a professional and timely manner
- Maintain the Tribal Court calendar
- Maintain effective communication between the Tribal Court and other tribes, state agencies, and departments within the Kenaitze Indian Tribe
- Compile and maintain statistical data for Tribal Court
- Become familiar with Tribal Court Codes and maintain the strictest level of confidentiality in all matters related to court business
- Attend staff meetings and trainings when required
