Field Worker

Nine (9) Temporary positions for the period of 03/08/2025-04/30/2025; 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm

Job Duties:

Vegetable Crops: field workers responsibilities include planting, sampling, weeding, roughing, detasseling, shoot bagging, pollinating, harvesting, shelling, and other duties relating to growing and processing the various vegetable crops and melons .Planting includes riding the planter to distribute crop seeds, walking behind the planter to ensure drip tube and seeds are properly installed in ground , and applying stakes for makers , secure drip irrigation and connecting to lines. sampling includes taking leaf, vegetable, or fruit samples. Weeding includes utilizing various tools to manually remove weeds. Roughing includes identifying and removing undesirable plants based on quality, yield, or market requirements. Detasseling involves the removal of the tassels from the plant. shoot bagging involves covering The plant shoots at various stages of the plant growth pollination includes installation and removal of pollination bags and pollinating and covering shoots. Harvesting involves manually harvesting crops. shelling involves manually shelling corn after it has dried and ensure it is properly identified and tagged. Processing involves sorting, grading, and packing agricultural crop seeds. Gleaning includes gathering ears from the ground. Other tasks may include removal of drip tape from the field either manually or mechanically, field net deployment and retrieval, manually moving potted plants out of the shade houses to the field, cleaning shade houses and other general farm clean up. Field workers will utilize various tools and equipment, including, but not limited to conveyors, washers, separators, dryers, scales, silos, moisture meters, forklifts, trucks and trailers (on farm only) tractors, sprayers, sizers, color sorters, baggers, cleaning equipment, computers and various hand tools. Field worker will be given the task procedures and specific training for each task. Field workers will continuously strive to do each duty with expertise and produce quality products

Requirements:

Minimum 3 months verifiable prior agricultural hand labor experience working with various vegetable crops. Workers must be able to perform manual activities with accuracy and efficiency. Drug testing is conducted at employers expense: post hire/prior to employment, upon reasonable suspicion, post-accident and random or periodically. Field workers are responsible for safety related matters, including attending mandatory paid safety trainings. work may be performed indoor or outdoor agricultural locations involving exposure to the sun, soil, mud, dust, cold, rain and other natural elements. work may be performed on uneven ground and requires contact movement. workers must be able to stand, walk up and down hills, sit, stoop, squat, kneel crouch, bend ( from the waist) push, pull, reach, lift and carry items weighting up to 75 pounds. workers smut be able to withstand working in direct sunlight and conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain, and cold while performing their required job duties. workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working condition described. work entails exposure to soil, plants, insects, and materials such as, but not limited to pesticides and fertilizers. Workers may be asked, but not required, to wok up to 10 plus hours per day and/or on the sabbath or federal holidays depending upon the conditions int he fields, weather and maturity of the crop(s) workers are reminded to always be respectful, safety minded, be a team play er, and good stewards of the environment and others.

Rate of Pay:

$ 20.08/hour

*Provision of Housing:Employer agrees to provide or secure housing for the H-2A workers and those workers in corresponding employment who are not r asonably able to return to their residence at the end of the work day. That housing complies with the applicable local, State, and/or Federal standards and is sufficient to house the specified number of workers requested through the clearance system. The employer will provide the housing without charge to the worker. Any charges for rental housing will be paid directly by the employer to the owner or operator of the housing. If public accommodations or public housing are provided to workers, the employer agrees to pay all housing-related charges directly to the housing's management. The employer agrees that charges in the form of deposits for bedding or other similar incidentals related to housing (e.g., utilities) must not be levied upon workers. However, the employer may require workers to reimburse them for damage caused to housing by the individual worker(s) found to have been responsible for damage which is not the result of normal wear and tear related to habitation. When it is the prevailing practice in the area of intended employment and the occupation to provide family housing, the employer agrees to provide family housing at no cost to workers with families who request it.
