SUMMARY

Answers questions and records employee enrollment in benefit programs by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

ELIGIBILITY

Distributes information on and explains benefits programs such as retirement, pension, health and life to participants and dependents.

Investigates and resolves questions regarding delivery and payment for services by contacting health care professionals and other service providers, benefit plan providers, and participants.

Verifies, completes and processes benefit enrollment cards, I.D. cards and benefit summaries.

Produces reports of benefit eligibility, contributions, and related discrepancies

GENERAL CLERICAL

Performs data entry of hours and contributions reported by participating employers and reconciliation of reports.

Enters benefit-related data into computerized benefit system.

Maintains files of enrollment forms and other documentation.

Calculates amount of participants' paycheck deductions for benefits and resolves discrepancies.

Sends enrollment information to benefit plan providers and other participants.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Incumbent must have systems aptitude to develop a thorough knowledge of the claims and inquiry processing system, related payment policies and medical terminology.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School or GED with one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before customers or employees of organization. Bilingual/bi-literate ability in English and Spanish is required.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to utilize basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, calculate percentages and fractions is required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

WAGE

$18-$22 per hour DOE
