JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Shipper needs to make sure that we produce a cost efficient and presentable labeled container to our customer. The customer\'s first impression of our product once it lands on their loading dock is crucial. Over time the incumbent is trained in a variety of distinct tasks each associated with the classification of Shipper. These include packaging/labeling of fabrics, forklift operation, computer training (SAP), loading/unloading trucks, phone/people skills and delivering received supplies. Use appropriate PPE that has been identified on the Hazard Analysis for the department/role. Attend and participate in all safety training, safety meetings, audits and Behavior Based Safety programs assigned. Report all safety hazards observed. If capable, correct the safety hazard identified. Essential Job Functions: Operate a forklift w/ ability to maneuver boxes, crates, gay loads, in and out of trucks thru tight spaces safely. Some scheduling flexibility, though rare, to cover vacancies due to vacation and/or special circumstances that may impact shipping/receiving outside the normal scheduled shipping hours and impact business need. Operate an overhead hoist. Effectively and safely operate various saws, banding equipment, and a variety of hand tools. Follow instructions on trailer cards. Cover all materials transfers including loading stock in racks, loading stock locations, raw material, cans & frame packages. Cross Train in other departments. Physically be capable of lifting 50-75lbs daily. Basic computer operations but also the ability to confidently learn and navigate SAP transactions. Need to be self-driven. Receive in stockroom inventory (SC backup) Track and maintain shipping inventory Perform standard work as specified in JIBS. Assure quality of products. Work on process improvement upgrades. Participate on various Department Groups and Committees. Act as a member of the Department Shipping Team and maintain a positive attitude. Need strong written & oral communication skills to work effectively w/ truck drivers and CSR team. Ability to work w/ planning and finishing group to forecast finished goods to order packaging supplies on time. Perform all tasks requested by supervisor.
