Responsibilities

What you'll be challenged to do:

Bridge engineer position for NBIS bridge inspections, design and load rating of highway and railroad bridges.

Primary Responsibilities (others may be included):

  • Participate in structural engineering assignments as part of a design or inspection team.
  • Perform engineering caculations and prepare MicroStation/CADD drawings as required.
  • Utilize engineering analysis software to perform LRFD ratings of bridges.
  • Take part in structure inspection assignments as an inspection team leader. TAke photos and measurements, and produce sketches.
  • Assist inthe preparation of engineering reports documenting inspection findings.
  • Other duties as may be assigned to meet business needs.

Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:

  • Bachelors degree in structural or civil engineering field with a PE license.
  • 15 or more years of experience in structural engineering assignments for DOTs or Railroads.
  • Be able to plan, lead, and coordinate complex and routine bridge inspection and assessment project teams with Professional Engineers, Engineers-In-Training, and bridge inspectors in Texas and nationwide.
  • Be responsible for documenting and reporting bridge conditions for NSTM or routine inspection assignments in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) while mentoring and training team members.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for field work.
  • Write reports and analyze load ratings of bridges and culverts working with DOTs, counties and/or municipalities to assess bridge infrastructure.
  • Ability to solve problems and plan tasks with an understanding of Critical Path Management.
  • Be able to perform QA/QC task on reports and plans.
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, AREMA, AISC and ACI design codes.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office Suite, Midas Civil / AASHTOWare BrR / CSI Bridge, BrM/AssetWise Inspection Reporting, and CADD (AUTOCAD or Bentley MicroStation).
  • Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.

What wed prefer for you to bring to our firm:

  • 15 years of load rating, design or bridge inspection experience
  • National Highway Institute accreditation in Inspection of In-Service Bridges.
  • Experience in LRFD and LRFR of Highway Bridges
  • Local Candidates
