SUMMARY OVERVIEW

The Safety Coordinator ensures compliance with TSA, FAA, OSHA standards, and company guidelines. This role oversees safety programs for Ground/Ramp Safety, Warehouse Safety, Winter Operations, and Airports Safety, supports station performance, leads safety initiatives, monitors work performance, and aligns safety measures with company goals. By fulfilling these responsibilities, the coordinator plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, security, and operational success of the company. In addition to the MCI location, this position will support the STL location, and some overnight travel may be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support training for new hires and recurrent training for all current employees.

  • Designated trainer for ATI/ABX.

  • Ramp Operation Course

  • Dangerous Good Handling and Awareness

  • Cargo Security Representative training.

  • Investigate Safety and Security events down to the root cause

  • Suggest and implement mitigations plans from investigation/audit findings

  • Conduct daily safety walks

  • Conduct weekly and monthly inspections to ensure fire extinguishers, eyewash stations are operational and in working order

  • Consult with supervisors and managers on safety/security-related issues.

  • Communicate with corporate leadership of safety/security-related incidents/issues.

  • Ensure the company is compliant with all city, federal, and state laws.

  • Understanding the importance of using safety equipment and following safety procedures to protect oneself, customers, and the public

  • Demonstrating a willingness to participate as a "team" member to improve the overall effectiveness of one's work group and to achieve group goals

  • May be assigned other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Eligible to work in the United States

  • Associate’s degree and three years experience. Associate’s degree or high school diploma or equivalent may be substituted with five or more years relevant experience in the Safety environment.

  • Obtain OSHA 30 certification within 90 days

  • Obtain HAZWOPER certification within 120 days

  • Knowledge of warehouse terminology and practices

  • Knowledge with various pieces of Material Handling Equipment to include forklift, reach truck, pallet-jack, order-picker, and swing reach truck

  • General knowledge in safety compliance

  • Demonstrated performance at directing and leading associates

  • Intermediate/Highly proficient Word,

  • Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language, to include documents

  • Ability to use electronic devices including iPad/Tablets, Computers, and Mobile Devices

  • Effectively communicate both in-person and through electronic means

  • Pass a background check and drug screen

  • Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)

  • Ability to work any day/shift, including holidays, within a 24/7 operation

  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include: Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point); depth perception (three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships); ability to adjust focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus)
