Who will you be working with?

This Executive Commercial Leader - Aftermarket Railcar Parts will provide leadership for commercial activity related to the Aftermarket Locomotive/Car Sales globally. The Commercial Leader, along with his/her team will be responsible for developing and executing commercial sales strategies for Wabtec’s customers.

How will you make a difference?

This includes all types of service products and advance technology partnership programs with customers. The Executive Commercial Leader will lead the development of the parts strategy for our Aftermarket Railcar Parts suite of products, with emphasis on how to grow this segment and build a robust value chain to provide these services to Wabtec customers. He/she will be responsible for defining the strategy and scope for the next generation of services agreements, envisioned to include both traditional locomotive parts and railcar components so as to provide one face to our customers.

What do we want to know about you?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Transportation / Logistics, Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 10 years in Rail industry Sales, and/or Sales leadership

  • Must be willing and available to travel 30%+ of the time

  • Proficient in English

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration (MBA)

  • Knowledgeable with radiators, local compressors, railcar brake valves, and other railcar components

  • Strong business acumen and financial acumen

  • Strong operating background

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Strong customer service mindset

  • Previous experience as a Commercial or Sales leader

  • Prior Contract negotiations experience

  • Ability to interface and influence all levels of the customers organization, as well as other

What will your typical day look like?

  • In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, be involved in business strategy and long-term planning, and contribute to the overall business strategy. Success will be the incumbent’s ability to create a value proposition and drive growth.

  • Build and execute organization strategy including coaching, mentoring and developing the team.

  • Execute on assigned operating plan and targets to assure that business wins profitable and productive service sales

  • Build influential relationships with assigned customers at all levels and develop strategies to win market share business from those customers

  • Develop customer strategies and leadership in their execution

  • Work across the organization to lead a cross-functional / matrixed team to scope, negotiate, sign, and deliver outcomes to the customers

  • Demonstrate commercial and technical expertise in the railroad and locomotive market

  • Be responsible to learn quickly when facing new problems and analyze successes and failures for improvement opportunities

  • Provide specific and actionable customer feedback that our teams can use to ensure alignment of requirements and roadmaps to meet specific and broad customer needs

  • See ahead clearly to anticipate future trends and consequences and be accordingly flexible to adapt to changes

  • Develop a deep understanding of customer business model, desired outcomes, and pain points and be dedicated to meeting their expectations and mapping desired outcomes to Wabtec offerings

  • Work collaboratively with Wabtec’s partner network to identify and develop new opportunities and improve Wabtec’s overall alignment to customer desired outcomes

  • Lead a matrixed organization of product specialists, technical sales, etc. to scope, negotiate, sign, and deliver a solution or outcome to the customer
