UH Lakewood Medical Center is located between Kansas City and Lee’s Summit, Missouri, offering residents of Eastern Jackson County access to a modern community hospital with a continuum of outpatient services designed to meet the needs of families. Job Description

Provide continuity in achieving patient throughput. Is the first contact with patients who arrive for public health services at the health department and in many cases is first time contact via the telephone. Provide registration services, prepare the patient for treatment, generate the patient record, ensure necessary documentation is completed, including completion of patient satisfaction survey, maintain accountability of revenues collected and follow up with patients as necessary. Provide valuable accounting, record keeping, data entry and inventory functions.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Two years of clerical, receptionist or data entry work experience in a health care or customer service setting.

  • Possess computer keyboarding skills of at least 30 wpm and basic knowledge of Microsoft computer programs.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to verbally communicate and convey information in a professional and clear manner. Ability to establish and maintain a positive rapport with customers and staff and provide superior customer service. Ability to listen effectively and respond accordingly. Considerable ability to be tactful and courteous.

  • Use proper business English (including spelling, punctuation, capitalization, grammar, and word usage).

  • Ability to take direction and follow instruction, ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

  • Use sound judgment when approaching problems, take initiative in solving problems, and pay attention to detail.

  • Ability to simultaneously perform multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic billing (data entry on spreadsheet and communication with vendors).

  • Basic Medicaid billing/filing.
