Job Description

The Pharmacy Clinical Manager provides leadership focused on design, development, implementation and performance improvement of pharmacy clinical programs and medication utilization processes throughout the organization. Collaborates with pharmacy managers, pharmacy team, and other healthcare professionals to create and maintain an efficient and safe medication use system. Ensures that pharmacy clinical programs and medication utilization systems support departmental and organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Develop and manage clinical pharmacy programs that enhance patient outcomes and minimize pharmaceutical costs. Ensures optimal drug therapy for all patients and conducts educational and research activities to promote high quality, safe, and cost effective patient care. Maintain and grow the collaborative relationships with schools of pharmacy. Provides oversight for all pharmacy residency programs by organizing, managing, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, recruitment, preceptor development and other residency operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Pharmacy Degree (Bachelor’s or Doctor of Pharmacy).

  • Missouri Board of Pharmacy pharmacist license with Medication Therapy Services (MTS) designation in good standing.

  • Completion of the organization’s Medical Staff Credentialing and Privileging process.

  • Three years as a hospital pharmacist, or equivalent experience.

Required Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to exhibit time management and organizational skills by working effectively and efficiently under tight deadlines, high volumes and multiple interruptions.

  • Verbal communication skills required to communicate with staff and other professionals.

  • Written communication skills required to complete reports and provide direction to staff and outside departments.

  • Ability to direct the activities of others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

  • Advanced degree in health care management, such as an MS, MHA, or MBA.

  • Completion of an ASHP-Accredited PGY1 Residency.

  • Completion of an ASHP-Accredited PGY2 Residency.

  • Board certification through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

  • Ability to direct and manage a pharmacy residency (e.g. previous involvement as a preceptor in an ASHP-accredited residency program, management experience, previous experience as a course coordinator).
