Job Description

Under the direction of the Corporate Supervisor, Mammography, the Mammography technologist understands mammography workflow, and is properly skilled to achieve quality mammographic images within a reasonable expectation from hire. He/she participates in performance improvement utilizing the MQSA’s EQUIP program, and continuously collaborates with the Lead Interpreting Physician (LIP) for breast imaging. He/she ensures that all breast imaging performed follows ACR guidelines as well as following the LIP’s department protocols. All mammography technologists must collectively work as a team to ensure all quality control and quality assurance meets the requirements of MQSA Law. He/she will willing assist medical imaging leaders in training and evaluating new mammography staff. Mammography technologists maybe required to help in other modalities as assigned as a regular part of their duties at assigned locations.

  • Required-High school diploma or the equivalent and graduation from a radiology program.

  • Required-ARRT certified; must maintain registration status.

  • Required-willingness and skill set to perform diagnostic X-ray when requested.

  • Must maintain continuing education and continuing experience requirements per MQSA law as well as follow any state regulations, and accreditation requirement.

  • Strong communication skills are required.

  • Good written communication skills are required.

  • Computer literacy is required.

  • Must maintain CPR certification for continued employment.

  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds to assist employees.

  • Travel to multiple UH locations possible when necessary.

  • Preferred-1 year of experience in mammography and be certified as an RT (R) (M).

  • Preferred-Experience in Mammography Quality Control and Quality Assurance.

  • Preferred-Strong knowledge of MQSA Guidelines and ACR Accreditation process.

  • Preferred-Ability to cross train and pass competencies.
