POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for completing initial psychosocial assessments and crisis intervention for consumers who present through Open Access.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Provides comprehensive clinical interview and psychosocial assessment for children, adolescents, and adults to determine preliminary mental health diagnosis.

• Makes appropriate treatment recommendations including submitting internal referrals.

• Provides crisis services by telephone or face to face including assessment for risk of harm to self or others and take appropriate action to ensure safety. Helps with completion of involuntary commitment paperwork as needed.

• Acts as a liaison with referring agencies. Collaborate with other internal providers and/or programs to best meet client needs.

• Maintains productivity standards as established by Beacon Mental Health. Completes required clinical documentation in EMR AVATAR NX within 72 hours (48 hours if under clinical supervision) of service provided which clearly reflect interventions provided and necessity of those interventions.

• Maintains knowledge of agency technology programs and/or systems needed to do the job and uses them effectively.

• Attends and participates in department meetings as needed.

• Assists manager in identifying service gaps and steps necessary to address service needs.

• Other duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

Education/Certifications:

• Master’s degree in either Social Work or Counseling.

• Missouri LPC/LCSW or Missouri PLPC or LMSW within 90 days of hire date.

Experience Required:

• 1 to 3 years of prior experience required.

• 3 to 5 years’ experience preferred.

Required Knowledge:

• Proficient knowledge of serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI) with adults and serious emotional disturbances (SED) in children and adolescents.

• Required knowledge in the DSM-5 and the ability to assess mental health disorders including substance use related disorders.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required including efficient typing speed of 40 WPM. Use of trauma informed language in documentation and appropriate therapeutic interventions.

• Proficient knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite (Office, Excel, Power Point).

• Required knowledge of HIPAA rules and how to protect client confidentiality.

Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries.

• Ability to work in a cooperative and problem-solving manner with agency staff and community agencies.

• Detail-oriented, highly motivated, and self-sufficient.

• Skilled at providing a welcoming atmosphere free of distractions, including use of respectful and trauma informed language and non-verbal behavior when interacting with consumers.

• Ability to support clients in crisis and collaboratively create a safety plan.
