Overview

The Director Compensation is responsible for the strategy, design and administration of compensation programs in alignment with the hospital’s compensation philosophy and financial and strategic objectives. This role oversees the ongoing development and administration of all compensation programs and policies to ensure they meet the organization’s goals, are competitive to market, within budget, in compliance with all regulations, and efficiently administered. This position leads the Compensation team in assessing market and internal trends, assessing compensation in relation to benchmarks and delivering annual and ongoing market assessment and compensation processes as a coach, mentor and resource. This role will ensure efficient compensation administration, explore and investigate compensation concerns, identify root causes and propose fiscally responsible solutions. The Director consults and advises organization leaders and Human Resources partners regarding pay program research, analysis and proposals. In addition, this role leads special Compensation projects to evolve our programs, policies and practices to align with market and meet organization needs.

Responsibilities

  • Works in conjunction with CM leadership to develop and administer a comprehensive total compensation program including annual salary planning, budget forecasting, analysis and payment cycles.

  • Manages the compensation staff and daily functions of the compensation department. This includes mentoring, coaching and delegating work to the compensation analysts regarding the job evaluation process, salary recommendations, compensation education and completion of salary surveys.

  • Using input from the market and internal trends, develop compensation strategies for the organization.

  • Maintains and guides the Executive Compensation Program.

  • Works in conjunction with the Comp Team and Internal Communications to maintain a comprehensive hospital-wide compensation communication plan.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree HR, Management or business related field of study. 9 or more years of combined Compensation and HR experience; Organization size: 8,000+ employees; multi-locations; Demonstrated successful project leadership preferred, specifically in compensation design creation and implementation.

  • Master's Degree preferred

  • or World at Work CCP Preferred

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $62.06/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This is an intermittent remote position, which means that the person hired will work with his or her manager to determine a schedule that includes both at home and on-site hours at a Children’s Mercy location. The incumbent must live in the Kansas City metro area.
