Job Summary and Qualifications

The Director of Nursing manages the financial and clinical operations of assigned area(s) and recommends qualified competent persons to provide care. Under the guidance and direction of the CNO, provides nursing leadership for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and safety in outpatient infusion, physician clinics, and Inpatient Oncology unit. Supports the mission and vision of the facility, division and company.

• Collaborates with physicians and other departments to coordinate the needs of patients and their families.

• Assures quality care through the initiation and evaluation of patient care utilizing performance improvement process.

• Responsible for compliance of Inpatient Oncology Units in regards to regulatory and quality measures. Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.

• Supervises nursing management staff and assures staff competency.

• Manages resources in a fiscally responsible manner.

• Develops, markets, implements, and evaluates new services and programs.

What qualifications you will need:

• Must hold a current RN license from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration or an active compact license. Certification in area of specialty preferred.

• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS and ACLS certification required upon hire

• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) must be obtained within 2 years of employment start date

• ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certificate Provider must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date

• Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Research Medical Center is accredited by The Commission on Cancer. The Commission on Cancer Standard 4.2 requires the nursing professional to complete 12 Oncology specific CNEs/CMEs each calendar year OR to hold an accredited certification starting after one year of hire.

This includes women's services offering obstetrics and fertility, an emergency room, and a trauma center. We offer a Stroke Center, a walk-in clinic, and orthopedics across three Kansas City locations. Our specialty care areas include a Chest Pain Center, Level I Trauma Center, Breast Care Center, Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Programs, and Primary Stroke Center.
