Description

As an Area Manager, you will provide leadership to assigned areas, mentor team members, and ensure Paulo’s process and quality standards are maintained, exceeding our customer’s needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that production, quality, productivity, and delivery requirements are met and at goal.

  • Manage customer programs to ensure the highest level of quality, the execution of delivery, and the control of inventory.

  • Halt or make corrections when non-conforming work appears. Follow-up on nonconforming product (items in the suspect hold system). Determine the root cause and follow-up with corrective measures.

  • Examine work as it enters the plant to identify potential problem jobs and develop a plan to resolve the issues.

  • Conduct performance evaluations, new hire assessments and employee counseling as required. Ensure that production employees understand their work responsibilities and carry them out. Develop and improve training programs for the continuous development of personnel in your Area of Responsibility (AOR).

  • Monitor and evaluate turnaround issues with the appropriate personnel.

  • Lead the investigation of Customer Feedback issues. Including root cause analysis and implementation of counter-measures.

  • Coordinate with maintenance to schedule equipment down time for maintenance shutdowns and preventative maintenance.

  • Ensure that all activities are conducted in a safe manner. Assist in the investigation of all injury and near-miss incidents for your AOR. Establish and maintain strong safety awareness among all production personnel.

  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures for department.

  • Responsible for Continuous Improvement activities within AOR by encouraging and maintaining employee engagement with the goal of helping Paulo improve.

  • Schedule customer work in an efficient and organized manner to ensure customer expectations are met; while upholding company Business Management Systems and profitability goals.

  • Coordinate rushes and customer priorities, taking into account staffing requirements, equipment status, and customer backlog.

  • Make daily work processing schedules for each department with estimated total processing time and communicate information to appropriate personnel.

  • Update these schedules as needed and effectively communicate changes.

  • Coordinate the review and reprocessing of work.

  • Coordinate with proper personnel to hold the work backlog to a minimum.

  • Immediately communicate with the customer if orders will not meet the agreed delivery commitment time, then agree on a new date and time.

  • Communicate equipment or other problems that cause conflict in setting schedules with Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Plant Manager and Sales.

  • Schedule production on weekends as required.

  • Communicate and work with Order Writing to ensure shop orders/processes are accurate, understandable and free of any errors and meet the PO and specification requirements.

  • Assist with various elements of quality, such as Nadcap/ISO Job Auditing and procedure and work instruction write-up.

  • Work with Process Administration, Sales, Process/Metallurgic Engineer, Supervisors, Quality Manager, Plant Manager on new or special jobs and processes.

  • Monitor production and $/hr to make sure we are meeting our productivity needs and goals.

  • Monitor and update backlog to keep aging jobs at a minimum and manage to avoid long term unresolved order situations.

  • Ensure timely deliveries by acting on and communicating delivery information; assist shipping personnel to meet deliveries.

Qualifications

Knowledge:

  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related area preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical concepts.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principals.

  • Excellent logical thinking and troubleshooting skills.

  • Potential to take on increased responsibility in the organization.

    Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, this includes THC.

    License(s)/Certification(s) Required:

  • Valid drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in compliance with Paulo's Vehicle Use Policy.

  • Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
