Responsibilities:

  • Verify necessary information and records in both the medical record and computerized scheduling system to ensure accurate patient data and appointment details.

  • Schedule, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments, ensuring efficient use of time slots and proper communication with staff and providers regarding any changes.

  • Greet and register patients promptly and courteously, providing necessary instructions and directions. Notify the appropriate department or individual of the patient's arrival and perform the check-in and check-out functions.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly waiting area, including the beverage station and reading materials, to ensure a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients.

  • Prepare patient charts ahead of scheduled appointments, ensuring all required information is available and organized.

  • Answer telephone calls, screen them effectively, take accurate messages, and provide essential information regarding patient appointments or inquiries.

  • Maintain and update physician schedules, ensuring that appointments are accurately scheduled and confirmed in a timely manner, with all necessary details provided to patients.

  • Complete necessary paperwork, including encounter forms and referrals, and use the computer system to generate information essential for billing purposes.

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1 year work experience, preferably in a medical office setting

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology

  • Word processing and computer experience

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
