Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to wash dishes, utensils, and pots and pans, following good cleaning and sanitization procedures.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Policies and Procedures

  • Maintain confidentiality of residents and potential residents, resident family members, coworkers, and Immanuel Living.

  • Understand and support the philosophy, policies, and standards of Immanuel Living and the Nutrition Services Department.

  • Maintain quality of resident care, including compliance with Facility and Nutrition Services Department policies and procedures, and State and Federal guidelines.

  • Follow facility and department policies and procedures.

Position Duties

  • Possess a high degree of personal cleanliness and hygiene.

  • Assist in washing dishes, pots and pans, while following good cleaning procedures.

  • Assist in pouring beverages and preparing salads.

  • Perform cleaning duties in the dishwashing area and dining rooms.

Documentation and Communication

  • Communicate with supervisor and participate in training and/or meetings that help facilitate. departmental communication process.

  • Communicate with others in a considerate manner.

  • Attend and participate in in-service educational classes, on-the-job training programs, etc., as scheduled or required.

  • Attend staff and departmental meetings, as directed.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Function effectively as a team member.

  • Maintain understanding, patience, and tact in dealing with residents, resident families, and coworkers.

  • Maintain good working relationships with other staff.

  • Ensure maintenance of a safe living and working environment for residents and staff.

Requirements

Professional Licenses or Certifications Required by Law, Rule, or Regulation for Performing this Position

  • Completion of Serve Safeā„¢ program upon entry into this position.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from high school or GED preferred

Essential Physical, mental, and Emotional Requirements

  • The employee must be at least 16 years of age. This position cannot perform any duties outside this job description that may require the employee to be at least 18 years of age.

  • The employee must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and be able to work under time and/or deadline pressures.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand at least 90% of the shift; use hands to finger; handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, bend, squat, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear.

  • The employee must frequently lift up to 10 pounds, occasionally to frequently lift up to 20 pounds, occasionally lift up to 35 pounds, and rarely lift up to 50 pounds.

  • The employee must occasionally reach above shoulder height, occasionally reach from chest to shoulder, frequently reach from waist to shoulder, and occasionally reach below waist level.

  • The employee must occasionally push / pull up to 20 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required of this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
