Park Coordinator Assistant description imageThe City of Kalamazoo Parks and Recreation Department is looking for dependable and hard-working individuals to help clean and maintain our City parks and fields.

This is seasonal/temporary employment.

Examples of Duties

 

General Worker - Parks & Recreation will work at various parks and fields in the City, performing a wide variety of maintenance tasks such as: 

  • Assist coordinator with public and private events.
  • Assist with minor park facility repairs.
  • Assist with inspections & repairs of playgrounds.
  • Assist with maintaining safe parks & well-groomed park facilities for public use.
  • Assist with preparing park facilities for various city sponsored events.
  • May operate equipment to perform park maintenance activities.
  • Trash & leaf removal.

     

Essential Qualifications

 

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess valid driver license and reliable transportation to and from work site
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially with the general public
  • Basic knowledge of small maintenance equipment 
  • Proven track record of success in operating equipment within an environment in which safety is the most important priority
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to all requisite safety precautions and actively participates in ensuring the well-being of colleagues and the community.
