Actalent Construction Engineering Inspector in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Job Title: Construction Engineering InspectorJob Description

The Construction Engineering Inspector, also known as Construction Services Specialist, will oversee the construction process for various projects from the field. This role involves monitoring and ensuring that projects are completed according to engineering plans and specifications. Projects include municipalities and public utilities such as wastewater treatment plants, stormwater systems, drinking water treatment plants, pump stations, and roadway utilities. The primary project will focus on underground infrastructure for water supply, water treatment, wellfield, and water systems.

Responsibilities

  • Document construction activities and inspect construction from the project site

  • Collect, maintain, and organize construction documentation

  • Review engineering and construction documents for projects

  • Conduct onsite reviews of construction project sites to ensure compliance with engineering plans and specifications

  • Collaborate and maintain client relationships at project sites

  • Communicate with contractors and subcontractors

  • Verify design plan accuracy at project sites

  • Propose improvements or recommend alterations during construction

  • Consult with contractors and engineers regarding construction activities, reports, and designs

  • Review changes in construction and materials specifications arising during project construction

  • Provide assistance and expertise on construction projects regarding reports, inspections, tests, and other engineering records

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years in Construction Inspection/Observation or as a Civil Engineering Technician

  • Experience reviewing construction plans and documentation for infrastructure construction projects

  • Previous field experience in construction engineering or civil engineering projects

  • Valid Driver's License

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an ABET accredited college

  • Direct experience as a Construction Inspector/Observer, Construction Engineer, or Civil Engineering Technician (or related position)

  • Experience with wastewater treatment or water systems projects

Work Environment

This role involves both field and office work, often at outdoor construction project sites in collaboration with various contractors. Projects are located in the Kalamazoo and Battle Creek area, with the current project for the City of Kalamazoo. This is an opportunity to develop construction engineering skills and gain specialized experience in wastewater and water systems infrastructure projects. It offers a long-term career path in project management or design engineering.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $33.00
