BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The M GE ELECTRICAL Department of the M GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: Professional Supervisor)

JOB FUNCTION:

Supervises all maintenance activities of the electrical, electronic, and pneumatic systems at Maalaea, Kahului, Lanai, and Molokai Power Plants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plans and implements maintenance schedules and programs relating to electrical, electronic, and pneumatic power plant equipment. Allocates charges for labor and materials and makes necessary manpower projections for maintenance and capital projects.

• Coordinates work with the Kahului, Maalaea, Lanai, and Molokai power plant managers or their representatives for maximum station availability, capacity, and efficiency.

• Supervises the installation of replacement or new equipment within existing facilities. Requisitions spare parts and materials. Performs related review and analysis and makes appropriate recommendations.

• Provides leadership and technical direction to develop and maintain a highly competent, flexible, and motivated workforce for employees under his/her direct supervision (including performance appraisal, teamwork and self-directed workforce, two-way communication, training and development, recognition, safety and discipline).

• Responsible for maintaining timecards and related reports.

• Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

  BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  Knowledge Requirements

• Completion of a Power Plant Electrician and Electrical Technician Educational program or equivalent.

• Thorough understanding of electricity and power distribution.

• Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations/permits, laws, and codes.

• Working knowledge of personal computers and related software applications.

  Skills Requirements

• Effective oral and written communication skills.

• Demonstrated supervisory skills including the ability to work with a variety of individuals dealing with sensitive, difficult, and confrontational issues.

• Administrative skills.

  Experience Requirements

• Several years experience as an Electrical Technician at a journeyman level.

• Three or more years experience as a Working Foreman or equivalent.

• Practical experience with generators, motors, power breakers, process controls, generator, and prime mover protective systems.
