City & Borough of Juneau Ski/Snowboard Certified Instructor I (24-0408) in Juneau, Alaska

The Instructor Level I position is our journey level instructor position which requires Level I PSIA/AASI Certification or foreign equivalency. The position independently teaches up to 6 guests on the lower mountain only for children and beginners.

The Instructor Level II position is an advanced level, and incumbents must possess a level II PSIA/AASI Certification or foreign equivalency. At this level, incumbents can teach more technical classes on the upper mountain.

The Instructor Level III position is our expert level position and incumbents must possess a level III PSIA/AASI certification or foreign equivalency. This position teaches the most advanced level classes anywhere on the mountain and provides advice and guidance to lower-level instructors.

All levels of instructors will be expected to maintain accurate class records to include student skill level, program or lesson taught and notes on students development and learning progress. They will be expected to fill out accurate incident/accident reports when they occur in a timely manner. Must fill out timesheets to correctly reflect number of students, time, and class. All Instructors will be required to participate in department cross over training for mountain safety.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are looking for positive enthusiastic skiers and snowboarders that are willing to be out on the mountain in all weather conditions teaching skills to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. They are responsible for our guests having a great experience and wanting to return for more. They should enjoy talking with people of all ages and demographics and be able to communicate in a friendly and welcoming manner.

THE BENEFITS OF JOINING OUR TEAM The Certified Instructor positions will have the opportunity continue growing their skills through the departments ongoing skills clinics and mentoring lower-level instructors. They will be given ample opportunity to explore the mountain and will meet many amazing community members through your lessons.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION They will be working at Eaglecrest Ski Area Wednesday through Sundays and during holiday periods. Work times vary depending on lesson demand and will be at the direction of the Snowsports School Director.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certifications:PSIA/AASI certifications or foreign equivalency necessary for appointment.
