JOB SUMMARY
The Bartender is responsible for preparing cocktails, delivering exceptional customer service, assisting in the management of the beverage program, inventory and ordering control, maintaining a clean and organized bar and lounge, and beverage training and development of hotel staff. The Bartender will also assist in the dining room for meal service, manage the gear shop, maintain lounge cleanliness and assist with public area housekeeping as assigned . Throughout the season, and especially during start-up and shut-down periods, the Bartender may be tasked with menu building, product ordering, bar cleaning, or steward training.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum three years of bartending experience in a full-service bar or restaurant. Extensive liquor, wine, and beer knowledge is essential
Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as independently managing time and workload.
Must be flexible and adaptable as daily activities change regularly and often
Comfortable living and working in close quarters with other crew members
Passenger vessel experience is preferred but not required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Function as the primary bartender on board - mixing and responsibly pouring a wide array of cocktails, spirits, beers, wine and non-alcoholic beverages
Maintain cleanliness of the lounge, bar, and gear shop, as well as general cleaning of the vessel as needed. Work with the Hotel Manager to ensure that FDA standards are consistently met
Work closely with the Hotel Manager to implement the onboard beverage-training program for Steward team
Engage with guests and add to their adventure by hosting back deck drinks, top deck cocktail hours, and leading a weekly tasting or presentation on a spirit, wine, beer or beverage related topic of your choice.
Inventory, ordering, and product rotation of all bar and gear shop items. Weekly inventories are required to be completed and submitted
Provide exemplary guest service. Model the values and expectations set for crewmembers
Participate in on board safety training, meetings, and drills as directed by the Captain. These include fire, abandon ship, man overboard, flooding, medical emergencies, and bear safety
ONBOARD ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Living Conditions- Crew live in close quarters with 4 to 8 people of all genders per room depending on the vessel. Having your own room is not an option due to limited berthing.
Length of Work Shift- Physically able to work 12 hours per day, 7 days a week for 6 to 8 weeks at a time. Rotations off the vessel are usually 2 to 3 weeks.
Mobility- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, kneeling, crawling, and pushing/pulling. Must ascend and descend stairs and ladders, sometimes while carrying tools or objects. Able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
Handling/Strength- Able to handle, lift, and lower objects totaling 50 pounds between the ground/deck level to a height of about 4 to 6 feet, and able to repeat these movements. Able to carry these objects up to 100 feet continuously for 20 minutes.
Environmental Conditions- Able to work in all weather conditions, around loud noise, in small spaces, and fit through a 28-inch-wide hatch.
BASE PAY
$140 / day + $70 tip guarantee
