Position Summary:

The University Advising Center is seeking an Academic Advisor to assist with management of the day-to-day operation

This is a twelve-month, full-time position

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Coordinate programs as requested by director

• Provide comprehensive advisement services to exploratory students

• Provide academic advising for New Student Orientation

• Staff advising center for walk-ins, extended hours and phone inquiries

• Serve as department liaison for assigned academic college(s)

• Present advising informational programs to students and faculty

• Provide outreach for students in academic distress as needed

• Serve as instructor for Making Connections and Restart as needed

• Contribute to campus-wide advisor enrichment initiatives

• Assist with administrative duties within the office

• Assist in the management of the day-to-day operation

• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Good oral and written communication skills

Strong organization skills

Ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment

Ability to supervise a paraprofessional staff

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Additional hours as requested and/or needed

Regular and reliable attendance

The Academic Advisor has daily contact with the center staff

Participation in state and regional organizations is encouraged

Preferred Qualifications:

An earned Master's Degree

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Bachelor’s Degree is required
