J.B. Hunt Transport Service Writer in Joliet, Illinois

Job Summary:

Under routine supervision, this position is responsible for operating the service desk, creating repair orders and assigning work in an efficient manner. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep maintenance information systems updated with ETA's at all times

  • Observe all Company safety requirements

  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

  • Advise operations/customer of needed service work or repair campaigns, as well as suggest additional labor, parts and body shop sales whenever possible (i.e. Preventive Maintenance Inspections, related service work, etc.)

  • Inform the Service Manager of all driver/customer complaints in order to be resolved before the vehicle leaves the shop

  • Input repair order information to data processing system and close repair orders Coordinate repair orders with Service Manager and Shop Foremen for proper work scheduling of shop operations; ensure drivers/customers receive the most expedient service available through questioning and understanding repair requests Arrange and create outsource forms for vendors to conduct repairs at the shop Assist drivers and callers with general questions and/or direction

  • Create repair orders and passing work to technicians

Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday 8AM-4:30PM

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; or up to 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and education; ability to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed

  • Ability to fulfill physical requirements of the job including: lifting above 50 lbs., bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.
