Works with experienced technicians to learn skilled trades, such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing as well as general building maintenance.  Applies these skills to the maintenance and repair of company-owned or leased buildings, property, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities: Assist skilled trade workers with the maintenance and repairs of facilities, property, and equipment. Scope of facility work includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, troubleshooting building systems, painting, carpentry, general maintenance, etc. Assist with moving furniture or materials within CTC facilities. Utilize a work order system to log activities. Accept on-call after hour responsibilities approximately once per month or as needed. Perform additional responsibilities as appropriate or as requested. Use of personal cell phone required for business purposes throughout the day. Occasional travel to other offices may be needed.

Physical and Mental Demands: Regularly or frequently hearing, talking, touching, grasping, pushing, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, climbing or balancing, reaching with hands/arms and performing repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement. Medium work frequently exerting up to 75 pounds of force. Clarity of vision at 20 inches, 20 feet or more, three-dimensional vision, ability to identify and distinguish colors, ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus, and ability to see up and down or right or left while fixed on a point in order to do electrical and telecommunications wiring, general building maintenance, maintaining tools, replacing parts, equipment layout, operate a forklift or man-lift, reading micrometers and calibration stickers, etc. Normal to concentrated attention required. Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagrammatic, or schedule form. Intermediate math skills. Basic reading skills to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of shop tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in mechanical drawing and layout work.

Work Environment: This position is safety sensitive. Moderate to loud noise level. Occasionally to regularly works near fumes or airborne particles, in outdoor weather conditions, in extreme non-weather cold, subject to risk of electrical shock, subject to oils, occasionally works with toxic or caustic chemicals, subject to vibration, occasionally works in high, dangerous places or near moving mechanical parts.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or  certificate from Technical School (preferred). Preferably 2-5 years of experience in one of more of the traditional skilled trades. Ability to lift and/or move equipment weighing 50 lbs or more.
