The Buyer at Martin-Baker America is responsible for total life cycle purchasing, including but not limited to the following activities:

  • Preparing, securing, analyzing, and maintaining RFQ data in the ERP system in Ce with USG regulations, while ensuring complete and accurate purchasing data.

  • Negotiating pricing and delivery terms with minimal guidance, engaging with senior buyers or management as needed, and utilizes sourcing techniques to justify best value awards.

  • Building long-term sourcing strategies to align with corporate objectives and monitors the ERP system for purchase orders with delinquent deliveries, working with suppliers to obtain delivery status and develop recovery schedules.

  • Monitoring purchase order requisitions, converting them to purchase orders in a timely manner, and managing risk to the Organization.

``` - Initiating purchase orders and amendments, arranging for the submission and inspection of First Articles or sample products, and coordinating with quality and planning/operations to support product lines.

  • Obtaining missing or revised shipping and quality documentation from suppliers, coordinating the return or scrap of discrepant products, and represents the Purchasing Department in meetings.

  • Building and maintaining relationships with suppliers by addressing issues, developing strategies, and periodically doing in-person visits.

``` - Support Contract Administration in the development of responses to Requests for Quote and Requests for Proposal for all new capture and follow-on business.

``` - Implement sourcing methodologies as developed by the Procurement Manager to economically procure materials for various customer contract scenarios.

 

Martin-Baker America is seeking a candidate for this position who possess the following skills, abilities, and education.

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Operations, Procurement, Finance, and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in purchasing or related fields, preferable in the Aerospace/Defense Industry *OR *a minimum of six (6) years of experience in purchasing or related fields, preferable in the Aerospace/Defense Industry.

  • Familiarity with the tools and techniques used to measure supply chain effectiveness

``` - Prior experience with SAP.

  • A good understanding of Federal and DoD acquisition regulations as they pertain to purchasing practices and organizations.

  • Experience and a good understanding with import/ export regulations as it relates to international purchase orders.

  • Superior Communications and Negotiation skills.

Hybrid work schedule available, for the right candidate, after training.
